“Why, Mommy, why?”
In trying to help Lincoln understand the world around him I try to answer his “Why?” questions. So, I’ve tried to explain exhaust from cars, speed limits, cooking questions, etc., and was feeling pretty good about how I was doing with this in general. Proverbs 16:18.
Yesterday as I was cutting an apple, Lincoln said, “Mommy, there’s a seed! What’s that for?” I told him that it was what grows into the apple tree. He looked at me blankly. Dumfounded, I said, “I’ve told you before that apples come from trees, right?” and with incredulity he said, “No, I’ve never knowed that before!”
We have not been going to Biblestudy on Wednesday nights very often this winter, due primarily to Cora’s bedtime (Lincoln’s too, but he handles the missing sleep better than she does). So, yesterday (Tuesday) I was talking to Lincoln about what was going to happen today (Wednesday), and he says to me, “We might forget to go to church again, Mommy.” Ouch, that hurts! Needless to say, Mark and Lincoln are at Biblestudy as I write this, with Cora sleeping upstairs.
And in Cora news, sign language is such a blessing! She has multiple signs now, and is really communicating with them. Today on our walk, she signed “bird,” “dog,” and “airplane” whenever she saw or heard them, and “more” when I stopped to check on her and she obviously wanted to keep going. Then, tonight she had been becoming more and more fussy from about 5:00 on. She didn’t eat well, and I wasn’t sure what was going on. Then, at 6:10 (usual bedtime is between 6:30 and 7), she signed “sleep” for the first time ever. Who am I to argue with that? I put her to bed and have hardly heard a peep since!
Signing “all done” so that I will help her down.
